  1.                            GENERAL HELP/INSTRUCTIONS:

  3. Backup your disk!
  4. DO NOY use original disks so if something happens you will have the original.
  5. Do a directory listing of the disk.e.g.Put the disk in drive A: and type
  6. Dir A: Look for documentation files.These are files that typically end with
  7. TXT,DOC or similar.Alos,look for files such as read.me,readme.1st
  8. View on your screen or print the documentation files.To view the files.
  9. TYPE FILENAME.EXE|MORE
  10. Where filename.ext is the proper filename and extension.To print the files 
  11. to a parallel printer,type Copy FILENAME.EXT PRN.
  12. Look for files ending with EXE.CO,or BAT.
  13. You may run these files straight from the DOS command line by simply typing
  14. in the first part of the filename i.e. type CARDS to run the file called
  15. CARDS.EXE For files ending with BAS,you must first run BASIC, or GWBASIC
  16. See your DOS manual for details.
  17. Zipped files some have been compressed in order to get them to fit on fewer
  18. disks.When space permits we put the proper unzipping program on the disk
  19. as well as a file of general instructions.To extract a file called FINANCE
  20. on drive A: to a subdirectory called "NOW" on a hard disk,first make the
  21. subdir MD\NOW,and then issue the command:
  22. PKUNZIP FINANCE C:\NOW ENTER.
  23. Run HELPUNZIP AND BHELP.COM for more information.
  24. Self-extracting files -similar to zipped files.Please see the file
  25. Readme.exe for more details.These should not be run from the floppy  disk.
  26. When space permits,we put your own install program on the disks that have
  27. self-extracting files.Look for a file called install.exe.Simply running this 
  28. file will walk you through the installation process.You should be able to 
  29. just press Enter at each screen to accept the defaults.Please run the file
  30. help.com that is found on most our disk.This files gives more general
  31. instructions on running the various programs.
  32. For Windows: See if there is an install.exe.It will say if you have to run 
  33. it from Windows.If there is an install.exe.it will typically copy the files
  34. over to your hard disk and extract them if needed.In order to run the program
  35. fromwithin Windows,first run the file Manager.Then get the location where
  36. you copied the program, and doubble -click on the proper EXE file.
  37. If you're running Windows 3.1 and what to add the program to a group,from
  38. within File Manager single click on the proper EXE file and drage it to the
  39. group and release the mouse.Other Windows programs have a built-in install
  40. routine which includes instructions on the disk.
